Academgorodok (the Academic Town), or the Novosibirsk Center of Science, Research and Innovations, or the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is well known all around the world.

This walking tour is for those who are in science, but also for those who want to understand the underlying idea and essence of the Soviet and Russian R&D. Along the way you will hear a lot of insider stories about the everyday life of scientists during the Soviet era and today.

You will walk along the smartest street in the world, see the old and the new buildings of the Novosibirsk State University and visit the House of Scientists with its canonic restaurant.

You will breathe in the cleanest air in the city, as Academgorodok is located amidst the forest. During the construction Mr. Khruschev, the then Soviet leader, ordered to preserve as many trees as possible and add extra ones.

You will see the unique monument to the laboratory mouse and the monument to the scholar who experimented with wild foxes trying to turn them to domestic.

You will visit the colorful supermarket with plenty of local delicacies, and you will look at the innovative building of the Novosibirsk Technopark.

If you have some учеекф time, you can visit one or more interesting museums (at extra payment): geology and minerals, archaeology and ethnography, or open-air railway museum.

The price includes only the guide's services. If you want to visit museums, most of them should be booked in advance for a certain time. The museums are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. The open-air railway museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesday.
